Will Carl Zeiss lenses mount on my Nikon D80?
I wish to buy a Contax Normal 50mm f/1.7 Carl Zeiss Planar T* lens that a local resident is selling for $75. Will this mount on my Nikon D80? If not, can I buy an adapter that will do so?

I do not know if there is an adapter I could not find anything on Contax to Nikon adapters ( there are contax to Canon EOS adaptors) . If they are made your best chance to find them would be through Zoerk ( http://www.zoerk.com/pages/p_mounta.htm ) The Yashica/Contax mount's register distance is a millimeter shorter than the Nikon F-mount. So if such an adapter exists, it would either not permit the lens to focus to infinity or it would have to incorporate optics to correct for this. ( I found this from a search on Nikonians) There are however ZF mount lenses made by Zeiss for Nikon If you really want a Zeiss lens. I think only certain Distagon T* and Planar "T" lenses have the ZF mount. The Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty is only $109.95 at adorama and I know for a fact that will work on your D80

Micro Four Third Camera with Carl Zeiss Lens?
I have panasonic GF2 and Canon 5d mark ii + Carl Zeiss Lens. I want to use carl zeiss lens for canon mount on a micro four third body. Does anybody has any idea about it? I guess......Carl Zeiss lens is canon mount (ZE version) so I simply need canon adapter for 3/4 camera. Is this correct? Thank you in advance for all answers.

Carl Zeiss made lenses in all the mounts available at the time, probably the most common is M42 screw mount, but Canon, Nikon and Pentax K mounts were all made, even odd balls like Haggai. They even made enlarger lenses which used M39 screw (Leica thread) which can be used on your GF2. If you have one that fits your EOS mount Canon 5D then that's the adapter you need, note that you can also get adapters for the older Canon FD mount. I never rated Zeiss lenses, I have a few of them, if you really want great image quality from your GF2 then try Leica lenses. Or, if money really isn't a problem Angenieux lenses made for the movie cameras of Hollywood and are still made today for TV cameras. How does a 200mm f1.8 sound to you? And you can use them, with jaw dropping results, on your GF2. Chris

All modern digital SLRs have adapters to accept M42 lenses. There are lots available at eBay and B&H. You do realize that you will be using the camera and lens in full manual mode. That is except for Pentax wherein you can use those lenses also at aperture priority mode. That's the main reason I went for Pentax dSLRs. I have a box full of M42 lenses. The best part is, with my K200d, I also get focus confirmation and shake reduction with those 30-year old lenses I have.
